The Different Types of Car Wraps

The Different Types of Car Wraps brand it wrap it

Car wraps can be used to quickly and fairly inexpensively change the look of your car.

The average person probably doesn’t know all that much about vehicle wraps. Those familiar with them may think that they are simply a marketing tool, but there is more to a car wrap than its commercial application. Car wraps can be used by individuals to quickly and fairly inexpensively change the look of their car (and keep changing it each time they replace it). The wrap does not need to be an advertisement – it could just be a new color or pattern that makes you happy. If you are interested in learning more about vinyl wraps for your car, for personal use or incorporating commercial graphics for your business, read on for an overview of the different types of car wraps available on the market today.

Full Wraps

Full wraps cover the entirety of the vehicle. They can change the entire color of the car since they cover all of the surface area. If you would love for your car to look completely different but you can’t afford an entire paint job, a full car wrap could be the perfect solution. Full wraps are also great forms of advertising for commercial applications as well.

Partial Wraps

Partial wraps only cover part of the vehicle and usually these are intended to produce a specific effect. For instance, these are often used to apply an artistic image to the hood of a car. Partial wraps are also good for commercial applications, like applying a logo to just one side door.

Specialty Wraps

the vast majority of car wraps are vinyl wraps, meaning that they are composed entirely or in part of vinyl. That can be either cast vinyl or calendared vinyl. Cast vinyl is cast into the shape and then painted, so it is slightly stronger. Calendared vinyl is cheaper and thicker, made by applying heat and pressure, but is not as durable. For the composite materials, chrome and carbon fiber are the most popular. Both are ways to achieve the look of the material (like a carbon fiber hood or chrome wheel wells) without the expense of it.

Commercial Wraps

Commercial applications exist for every type of wrap. If you have a business that you want to promote, a car wrap is an amazing, mobile piece of advertising. Like any marketing, you should weigh the costs and benefits of applying a wrap to your vehicle before you dive in.
