Car wraps and vehicle graphics are one of the most interesting marketing tools. While vinyl graphics have long been a staple of in-store marketing, from floor graphics to wall decals, applying them to a vehicle creates a mobile billboard. The benefits of this form of advertising are impressive. However, like all marketing, you cannot simply throw anything together and call it a design. The way that you design a vehicle wrap needs careful planning. The wrap design needs to be easily read and understood but also eye-catching. If you’re looking for exciting ways to increase the visibility of your car wraps, consider these tips. 

Wrap Size

The first design decision is whether you plan for a full or partial wrap. If this is your first time trying out a vehicle wrap, a small graphic on the door might be a good test. Generally, the larger the wrap, the more expensive it is, and some people struggle to dive straight into the deep end of full car wraps. However, if your concern is visibility, there is no denying that a full car wrap is much more visible and visually impactful than a smaller graphic. The bigger it is, the harder it is to miss. 

Color Choice

Color choice on vehicle graphics is a fine balancing act. You want them to be eye-catching but not garish. You want the wrap to be aesthetically pleasing and stand out. Generally, contrasting colors are more eye-catching than complementary ones. Alternatively, a simple background with pops of intense or bold colors can also be very eye-catching. Using colors not typically seen on cars can also make it more visible (though this is harder to do now with the wide variety of car colors on the market). Finally, remember the colors associated with your brand when thinking about color choice.

Wrap Placement

Finally, placement is the last factor to consider when increasing visibility. If you opt for a small graphic, does it make the most sense to have it on the side door, the back window, or the hood? Where will most people see the graphic – if you park your van outside of your shop and the side gets many views, that is a great choice. However, if you are nearly always on the go, the back window might be better so that people behind you have time to take in the information as you sit in traffic.
