Rebranding can be difficult but done right it can really improve your business’s image.

Sometimes companies need to change. There are plenty of reasons a company should change (shifting focus, expanding, outdated brand). No matter what the reason is, there are some things every business owner should keep in mind when rebranding, and a branding strategy is a great way to plan out the change and make sure you don’t overlook anything.

Tell a Tale

What’s the story of your company? You need to find a creative and interesting way to explain to your customers why you’re changing your brand. Are you shifting to a focus on a different service or product? Tell them why you decided to make the change and how it will benefit them. A good story is always captivating.

Maintain Brand Equity

Don’t lose sight of what brought your customers to you in the first place. Some people can be put off by a big change to a company they trust. Try to workshop ideas with focus groups and customers to get an idea of how they feel about the change.


Maybe your current brand has become unwieldy, or just outdated. For example, imagine a company that started selling office supplies and has since added technology maintenance and installation to its list of services. Instead of saying they are an “office supply and technology installation and maintenance company,” they could rebrand themselves as an“office solutions” company.
